Abstract
The paper aims to investigate the application of agent-based simulation and web-based routing applications in synthesizing the attributes of unchosen alternatives in a mode choice model. Revealed preference data usually contains rich information on travelers’ real-world constraints and preferences. However, it often lacks information on unchosen alternatives which prevents researchers to take a full advantage of the data. This work addresses this problem by using simulation and web-based routing applications to synthesize the missing information. The synthesized data are compared with household travel survey data, and are used to estimate a series of mode choice models. The implied values of..
